Having a Session at my Home Studio

This page outlines the standard practice protocol for when you come to my apartment and receive a session. For many of you this is common knowledge and have had treatments or sessions before with health professionals, but for others who are new to this experience this short guide can be very informative and put the mind at ease before a session.

Step 0: Intention & Understanding

This is the standard sequence of events describing what generally happens when getting a treatment or session, in step by step order. This is useful to know so that you feel ready knowing what will happen and when. Please allow plenty of time before and after the session so you don't feel stressed or rushed and if you have any questions talk to Dom.

Step 1: Your Arrival (2-5 mins EARLY)

It is best if you try to arrive a few minutes early to settle down in the waiting room to take off your coat and shoes, warm up and calm down. Dominik will greet you at the scheduled start of the session.

Step 2: Consultation Sit-down (5-10 mins)

If this is your first session with me, we will take some time sit down together and chat a bit about the important things, and you will fill out a quick questionnaire. I will take you through a quick series of questions and assessments. We also outline the strategy and intention for the session ahead, so we are both clear on what the session aims are.

Step 3: Getting Changed (2-5 mins)

I will then leave the space to put on some ambient background music, wash my hands and prepare. You have the time you need to get changed and use the bathroom if necessary. You will then lie down on the table and cover yourself with the towel/ blanket or sit on the yoga mat.

Step 4: The Session (30 - 120 mins, variable)

What we do in the session(s) is dependent on what service you selected, if this is a single treatment or part of a series of treatments etc. We will work together to tailor and focus what we do in each session to address your individual needs and what will work best for you overall and in the moment. Throughout the session we will stay in clear communication and I will check in with you regarding levels of pressure, intensity and speed etc. Generally, a good balance of what is important and needed mixed with what is nice and relaxing will make the best result.

Step 5: Closing & Departure (5 -15 mins, variable)

You will have had about 5 minutes at the end of our session to relax and transition back into wakefulness. This marks the end of the session. I will then leave the space to give you time you need to get dressed. After that we will briefly talk regarding any important issues and aftercare advice, or confirming the next appointment. Until next time :)

Important Reminders & Conditions

Personal Hygiene

For everybody's comfort please come to the appointment with a clean body and clean clothing, and avoid strong perfumes. If absolutely necessary you may have a shower but this is not standard practice.

Time Management

I officially leave a 15 minutes spacing between appointments. Please understand that if you are late we still finish our session at the appointed time in order to maintain my schedule.

Recommendations

Please do not eat a very heavy meal just before our session. Please refrain from the use of any form of drugs or alcohol. Please dress comfortably and informally so you can feel as relaxed as possible.

Clear Communication

It is important when giving therapy and touch that everybody feels safe and understands fully what is happening. This means that before the session begins we will clearly and verbally agree what we will do and how. It is also important that we stay in communication during the session, and if something is too strong or uncomfortable, you must please tell me immediately.
